What to see and do around Ghachok
In Annapurna Mon Village you can spend time on your balcony or in the garden, enjoying peace of the place and the mountain views. Take a small walk to explore the village and discover the traditions and the daily life in the Nepali countryside, or walk in the nature around to spot birds and wild life.
From our place you can hike to different remarkable spots: viewpoints, waterfalls, hot springs. Ghachok is also the starting point of different trekking routes, choose the one that suits you most, from 3 days to 10 days or more.

Village life
Village farming
Most villagers are farmers, growing rice, wheat, maize, and millet depending on the season. In every house there are buffaloes, cows and goats.
Rice harvest
Rice is planted at the beginning of the monsoon season (June) and harvested in falls (October November). This is a great time to watch traditional techniques of villagers.
Pujas & Festivals
Ghachok people are hindus and there are regular religious ceremonies "pujas" all year round in temples or homes. In October November you can attend the main festivals of Dashain and Tihar, in March April the color festival Holi.
NATURE & WILD LIFE
Bird watching
Many species of birds can be observed in Ghachok, even from your balcony: bulbuls, bee-eaters, fishermen, falcons. You can also walk to the vulture protection site.
Rhododendrons
In spring season (March-April) rhododendron trees blossom in beautiful colors from light pink to red. Take a hike up to Tubu or upper to cross rhododendron forests.
Wild life
Two types of monkeys can be seen in Ghachok, macaques and Himalayan gray langurs. If you are lucky you can spot a deer, a leopard in the nearby forest or even the famous Dhurbey.

Monkey view point
Enjoy the view on Seti river valley and an impressive plateau of rice fields on one side, Himalayan range on the other side, best at sunset. You can also spot monkeys who settle in the cliffs.

Daha waterfalls
In Daha there is a series of 7 waterfalls, you can chill and swim at the lowest one or explore upper falls.

VULTURES PROTECTION SITE
At the "Jatayu" vulture protection site, several protected species of Himalayan vulture can be observed in their natural environment.

Kharpani hot springs
These natural hotsprings by the Seti river are mostly visited by locals who appreciate the warm temperature and curing properties of the water.

Tubu hill
This steep walk will take you to a beautiful glade with view towards Pokhara and the Annapurnas. You can have a drink or light lunch at the local tea house.

Lwang tea gardens
Lwang is a beautiful Gurung village hanging over the Mardi river valley, with traditional houses and a Buddhist monastery. Above the village you can walk around tea plantations, the only ones in the Annapurna region.
TREKKING
Duration - 3-5 days
Khumai trek
From Ghachok, a trek into the wild to Khumai and Korchon danda (3700 m) with amazing views of Mt Fishtail and whole Annapurna range, then down to Ghachok or to Koleli in the next valley.

Sikles Kapuche lake trek
Starting or ending in Ghachok, this trek far from the crowds takes you to typical Gurung villages of Tangting and Sikles, then to Kapuche glacier lake at the foot of Annapurna 2.
